10 Fertile Trends for 2017
Happy New Year!
We just wrapped up our first week in 2017 and I will admit, this year looks promising for all. Especially those of us inspired to live a #fertilelife. With all the amazing wellness trends right now, it's so much easier to be healthy and not as expensive as it once was. It seems as if everyone is riding the healthy wave, so I curated a list of the top ten fertile trends for 2017.
Here we go.
1. Being Healthy |
Have you noticed that everything says "All Natural" now, and everyone is super into fitness? Wellness is most definitely a trend now which I think is a wonderful thing. People are more inspired to live a healthier lifestyle. Getting more sleep, exercising, eating better and mediating are top priorities for many people. Brands are now forced to provide healthier options for their customers. For you, this means more wellness products will be accessible, making it easier to live a fertile lifestyle.
2. Digital Fertility Monitors |
OPK's (Ovulation Prediction Kits) are so last year. This year digital fertility monitors are IN. And there are many options to fit your personal needs -
First, there's Daysy, ( I own this one and will blog more on it later.) which is a fertility monitor that uses the fertility awareness method to track your cycle. To use Daysy, take your temperature each morning, confirm menstruation on the days you have it, and Daysy evaluates your data and calculates your fertility status for the next 24 hours. Daysy is currently $330 and available online.
Next, we have AVA. Using graphs, charts, and trend analysis - Ava allows you to compare your health and menstrual cycle details from month-to-month. Ava tracks your stress levels by monitoring your heart rate variability, see what percentage of sleep is light versus deep/Rem sleep, and tells you exactly when you’re ovulating. The Ava bracelet is $199 and found online.
And last but not least, there's YONO. Yono is non-invasive and measures your core body temperature. Yono is a silicone-encased earpiece (think iPhone earbuds minus the cord) that's worn all night. Data is collected throughout the night to determine the lowest BBT (Basel Body Temperature), and then synced when you attach the earbud to its base the next morning, which is synced to the iOS application. Yono is currently $129 and available online.
3. Going Sober |
Remember the days where you could do four or five shots and wake up and go to class the next morning? Yea, not so much anymore, huh? This is a trend I can get behind because I know just how beneficial it is. Mocktails are now all the rave, and if there's a full bar any skilled bartender can whip you up an amazing drink sans liquor. If you're looking for some great recipes to try at home start here.
4. Eastern Medicine |
Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda have become popular in the West over the past few years. Western medicine is finally catching up to a thousand year practice that understands the body must be seen holistically, instead of symptom by symptom. Acupuncture is amazing for balancing hormones, reducing stress, and boosting fertility. And as for Ayurveda, I recommend you find out what your primary Dosha is so that you can start living a life more aligned with your personal constitution.
5. Going Chemical-free |
This is another trend I am really excited about. We are now more aware of many chemicals found in the products we use every day. Many of the perfumes, make-up, nail polishes, bath and body products currently on the market contain hormone disruptive chemicals that are known to cause infertility. Toxin-free nail shops are popping up all over the country as more women make the switch and go chem-free.
6. Healthy Fats |
Healthy fats like Coconut Oil and Avocado became all the rage last year and will continue to do so. We now know that fat is not our enemy, in fact, healthy fats help fuel our brains and provide a nice fertile ground to balance hormones and conceive a baby. You can jump on this wave by incorporating more EVOO, Coconut Oil, Avocados, and Ghee.
7. Mushrooms |
Mushrooms as medicine took the stage last year. We saw Reishi, Shiitake, and Chaga become a household name. Mushrooms have many benefits, including lowering cholesterol, protecting the liver, and have anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and anti-microbial properties. They’re known to help fight cancer and boost the immune system. If eating them plain jane is not your thing, there are many ways to get your mushroom serving in. Try this tea, an Elixir, and these supplements.
8. Energy Healing |
Energy Healing is another trend I am super excited about because as an energy medicine practitioner, I know just how healing it is. Energy healing promotes enhanced energy flow and correcting disturbances in the “human energy field” also known as an “aura” which surrounds the body. (source). Reiki, a form of energetic healing helps to balance Chakra’s, remove energetic blockages that may be causing illness and disease, and promotes relaxation while helping the body to facilitate healing.
9. The Anti-inflammatory Diet |
This should kind of be a no-brainer why it's on the list. Many of us are struggling with gut health, and have serious issues with inflammation. The anti-inflammatory diet helps to prevent inflammation while healing the body from years of damage. Get into this cookbook and incorporate the meals and plan into your diet and see if you notice any differences in your health. (I promise you will!)
10. Powdered Tonics |
And last but not least, we have Powdered Tonics. If you have an Instagram account you've likely seen your favorite Influencers raving over these tonics. Sun Potion, Moon Deli, and Moon Juice all offer ahhhmazing powders and potions that will help you unwind, boost brain power, detox, and boost your immune system.
